PointWorthy FAQ for Donors

How does PointWorthy work?

PointWorthy is a payments network that makes it possible for consumers or businesses to use loyalty reward points to make cash donations to thousands of local, regional or national charities.

PointWorthy is not just a button on a website, it is a full payments network. It connects the consumer's loyalty program to thousands of organizations, converts points to cash, clears the transaction with all the parties, disburses the funds to the charities and maintains all of the donation records securely for compliance and accounting.

Donations can be made on participating reward provider's websites or at the PointWorthy website (www.pointworthy.com). They can also be made through a charity's website (by adding a widget that takes a user to your organization's landing page inside of PointWorthy).

Who uses PointWorthy?

Consumers who want to contribute to a cause they believe in by taking advantage of loyalty reward points that they have been given.

Companies who collect points through their employee's use of corporate credit cards and who want to use those points in a worthy way by donating them to charity

Non-Profits who want to enable their supporters to donate loyalty reward points as cash.

Fundraising Service Providers who want to help their customers take advantage of the billions of Dollars of loyalty reward points that are distributed every year.

Loyalty Rewards Providers (financial service firms, hospitality companies, airlines and others) others can use it to give their members more ways to use their points as a currency for the things they care about, including charitable contributions.

Can donors donate to the charity of their choice, even if the non-profit has not yet signed up with PointWorthy?

Donors can indeed donate to most causes because PointWorthy uses IRS lists to offer donors the widest selection of potential charities to which they can send money. Just look up the charity you want to donate to by: Name, EIN, and Location or use the filters that we offer.

Security on our system is provided by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. In other words, by using SSL a temporary link is established between the server and website to ensure that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. Your data will always be "encrypted" so it is unreadable to anyone outside of the transaction process. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.
